Behavior Analyst Certification Board ( Bacb ) - 1657 Words

Introduction Behavior analysts are one of many helping professions that exist in the world. One may ask what exactly is a helping profession? Not surprisingly, a helping profession is exactly what it says it is. It is a profession that nurtures the well-being of others. Doctors, psychologists, dentists, teachers, and nurses are other helping professions. It is not easy to work in a helping profession. If you are one of those helping professionals, you are expected to provide effective services for anyone with whom you work. The question then becomes how can you make sure that you are providing effective treatment. So what is it that makes behavior analysts and behavior analysis as a field unique and effective? How does another†¦show more content†¦They then take the information gleaned from the observations and assessments and form their treatment plans. The ongoing collection of data is what drives behavior analysts’ decisions when it comes to making change s to the plan they have created. This guideline also includes the expectation that, when presenting information for publication or at a conference, behavior analysts present information with the highest degree of integrity (Bailey Burch, 2011). This integrity is established by the use of the scientific knowledge that the behavior analyst has gained in their training. Scientific evidence serves another purpose in behavior analysis. It guides the decision in the types of treatment procedures that are selected for implementation. According to Van Houten, et al. (1988), a behavior analyst has an obligation to only use methods that have been scientifically proven to be effective. This fact is key because one of the rights a client has is the right to the most effective treatments available. When the behavior analyst is able to combine the use of the scientific data and the use of scientifically proven effective treatments, they are able to accomplish the goal that they should star t with for each client. A behavior analyst has been most effective in helping their clients when they are able to withdrawal themselves from the clients life altogether (Skinner, 1978). Another ethical guideline for behavior analysts is that they will pursue

In postmodern eraï ¼Å'advance technology become a strong driving force for ‘remix culture’, whereby its widespread global information database enabled artist to easily access, manipulates and references other people’s work or artifacts into their own creative blends. A brief look at the art history reveals that remix culture is actually nothing innovative or new, but actually long existing with human culture. Especially for recent years ‘remix practice’ certify its familiarity with artist through prolific works from all different kinds of artistic fields. Such as Stella McCartney’s fashion work CHINATOWN PLAID (2013); a remix of Asian culture with high fashion, Yasutoshi Ezumi’s fashion work from Tokyo spring collection 2016; a deconstructed fashion work fr om architectural form and a digital appropriation portrait of Mona Lisa. Through out the 20th century the emerge of advance technology enabled a more globalised scope of art, prompting a shift in the creative practice in favor of a more and more passive â€Å"read-only† (RO) culture (Lessig, 2008). â€Å"The 20th century was the first time in the history of human culture when popular culture had become professionalized, and when the people were taught to defer to the professional,† (Lessig, 2008) Professor Lessig states. We will write a custom essay sample on What Is Video Conferencing or any similar topic only for you Order Now Travel expenditures, time, rentals, hotels, entertainment, etc, are all costs of traveling somewhere to conduct business. By using video and voice solutions, companies enable their geographically dispersed workforces to communicate and collaborate more effectively and productively over distances. Employees can collaborate from offices, meeting rooms, and even mobile devices. A variety of organizations are using these standards-based solutions to: ⠝â€" Gain a fast return on their investment as their teams easily collaborate â€Å"face to face† wherever they are ⠝â€" Cut the time, cost, and carbon emissions associated with gathering the right people in one place to solve problems ⠝â€" Apply saved resources, time, and energy to primary business and organizational challenges Businesses will sometimes use , simultaneous videoconferencing, which is having conversations among three or more remote points. This is becoming more popular now that DSL and broadband internet is widely available to the public. How this technology is used where I work This form of communication is not used widely in the housing industry as of yet; however, our company started using video conferencing when gas prices climbed past three and four dollars. This company has 37 properties, which it manages within a 200-mile radius. When gasoline prices climbed above $3.00/gal, with no end in sight, this company took steps to eliminate costs, and one-step is video conferencing. Since the implication of video conference, our regional manager shows up once a month (versus weekly) and there is a video conference every Tuesday. The company did not opt to change the methodology after gasoline prices subsided because the savings are very high. Because of this, the company has taken the monies that it has saved and invested them into improving areas of the company. Since the regional manager has the time available to him that he once spent driving, he has more time to address and review further issue that arise and project that need to want to be completed. This is the only work place that I have worked where such technology has been available. In one previous place (fast food), there was a thief, so the company installed video cameras that could be viewed remotely. In the maintenance field, it is necessary for the manager(s) to have visual reference of the items discussed. The electronic age has that made the communication end of my job easier. I am able to take a picture with a camera phone or digital camera and send that to a manager for visual representation. For example, my manager can print out a picture of what I sent him, turn his back to the camera in a video conference, and have a conversation about the issue at hand almost as if we are in the same room. Another benefit is I can get a faster response time than before, because I can send the information, and then discuss the situation shortly thereafter rather than whenever the next scheduled conference is. Message Types The message type that is in play here is face-to-face communication, in a digital form. All the characteristics that one has in a traditional face-to-face conversation are all present within video conferencing. One can see the body language and facial expressions the other person has and have the ability to compare that with the individual’s tone just like a typical conversation. Just as in a typical conversation, one is able to judge the appearance and level of professionalism of the other person. Because of the video conferencing, even when sending an email the level of professionalism is still there because of communication with these individuals in a digital and internet manner. I feel that video conferencing has improved my daily, weekly, and monthly life where I work. This innovative manner of communication has sped up response time on issues, saved the company thousands of dollars, and improved the work environment within the company. Employees, managers, regional manager, and owners now are able to know who is on the other end of the line when they are having a conversation; this adds a level of respect towards the other individual. Improving the quality of communication within an organization has been a benchmark for this company. How to cite What Is Video Conferencing, Essay examples

The Role of Education free essay sample

The role of education is widely accepted to be an essential part of our society geared towards improving our nation and individual life. When someone receives an exceptional education, they are provided with the opportunity to succeed physically, mentally, and emotionally. Nowadays in the U. S. , we rank amongst the lowest in worldwide leaders when it comes to providing an education. Our system had deteriorated so much that students continue to fall behind in schools every year and fail miserably in their academics. In the United States, the major problems in public education are the lack of funding, an outdated school system, and failure to improve and properly discipline our teaching staff. Due to insufficient funds, our public education system has suffered major losses and diminished in quality of learning. Since public schools never receive sufficient funds to run according to plan, constant revisions have to be made. Lack of textbooks, lab equipment, extracurricular activities, and materials are a main cause as to why low-income schools are suffering. We will write a custom essay sample on The Role of Education or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Whereas, most students from middle and upper class neighborhoods receive the proper intellectual resources to succeed and obtain a solid future, many other children are denied the right to success because of their economic backgrounds and/or location. This financial separation has also come to include race factors since the majority of inhabitants of low-income neighborhoods are minorities. Therefore, if every student in the U. S. has a right to an equal education, why do these low-income/non-white citizens have to endure this neglect and disregard for their rights? Moreover, the government has failed to establish an updated school system that works in accordance with today’s society. In the 1950s, our school system was designed to produce only a few students who went to a four year university, several vocational jobs and skilled workers, and the rest would become laborers. In today’s society, most students are expected to go on to university or an institution of higher learning and obtain certain skills and credentials. Although, that system did work back then in the 1950s, it most certainly has proven that it no longer works in today’s world. With this in mind, many employers today find the inability to hire and fill spots in their fields because of the lack of qualified individuals. Many American corporations and businesses have gone abroad to hire qualified person that meet the qualifications of their open positions. Without the proper innovation and school reform that we need, American jobs will continue to go to foreigners as opposed to Americans ultimately hurting our economy. Furthermore, the failure to discipline and investigate poor teachers and constant battles with teacher unions has negatively affected our education system. Over the years, school boards have lost the power to fire tenured teachers due to many reasons. When it comes to procedures in firing a bad teacher, the slightest error can result in a poor teacher remaining in the classroom. Studies also show that a single weak teacher can cripple students for years and ultimately reverse a student’s academic abilities. When it comes time to firing a teacher, the clout of teachers’ unions keeps their tenure strong and pushes for increasingly more complex procedures that become strenuous and difficult. In order to get rid of a bad teacher, school boards have to jump though hoops and unfortunately still fail. In cases like these at the end of every year, instead of firing bad teachers, several states do what they call a â€Å"lemon dance† or â€Å"pass the trash† as it’s called in some other states. Instead of disciplining bad teachers, a school will pass them onto to another school while receiving someone else’s underperforming teacher as a replacement for the one they gave away. In cases like these, nothing changes and progress is not made. The problem will continue to be ignored and the ones who suffer the most are the students. In conclusion, our public education system continues to suffer at the hands of a neglectful government. Throwing money at the problem will not necessarily solve it either, nor is a lack of funds the solution since students hardly ever receive adequate learning material. Although the school system was successful in the past, in today’s society, students need a system that puts them on a higher track to learning and success where they can compete in a global economy. Moving on, the constant struggle with teachers’ unions has presented numerous problems as well because of their outdated systems and policies too. Ultimately, the education system is aimed at protecting its educators before its students. Lastly, if we are to live in a society where we expect our students to succeed, we must put the children first and eliminate any and all obstacles that stand in the way of learning and obtaining a good education.
